Hemel Hempstead is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Much later after World War II Hemel Hempstead was developed as a new town and later it became a link to the east via the M1 motorway, then after the M25 was built commuting to London became considerably more straightforward.

Hemel Hempstead is famous for its “Magic Roundabout” which opened in 1973. “For the first timer” it can be one of the most unforgettable experiences in manouvering round, and sometimes quite notorious, and its not for the hesitant or timid, shall I, shan’t I drivers. It’s where traffic from six routes meet, with six mini roundabouts and traffic can go in both directions.

The secret is to know exactly where you want to go and without loosing your nerve skilfully weave your vehicle in and out of the mini roundabouts by keeping to the general roundabout rules of giving way to the right and at the same time go round the main central roundabout. Good luck!

Sadly, there was the major explosion that took place at Buncefield oil storage depot on Sunday 11th December 2005 at 6am which was noted as being one of the largest explosions ever to occur in the UK. 300 people were made temporarily homeless and severe damage took place to Maylands Avenue industrial estate where a great deal needed to be demolished. The nearby residential areas were also badly damaged. Fortunately there were no fatalities as the explosion was before dawn when thankfully no many people were close by.

On a more positive note, there now has been reconstruction of Maylands Avenue and it has been transformed into Maylands Business Park and there is a 40 tonne sculpture called Phoenix Gateway to signify its renewal. The sculpture is a series of blue steel arches rising towards the sky to symbolise “rising from the ashes”
In 1994 The Jarman Park Leisure centre was opened which includes eight film screens operated by the Empire Cinema and there is the Hotshots Tenpin Bowling. If you like to Ice Skate then there is the Planet Ice ice rink. The nightclubs Lava and Ignite can also be found at the same location.

Below you will find a list of venues in Hemel Hempstead where our Voluptuous and Stunningly Chic Escorts will be more than happy to visit and offer you that very special memorable evening of exceptional enjoyment which we are certain you will remember for a very long time.

The Wall Paintings at Piccotts End

The Wall Paintings at Piccotts End

This is the story of the paintings and cottages:- In 1953 the Cottages in the village were being repaired. During the work, the owner Authur Lindley discovered some of the medieval wall paintings under several layers of wallpaper. Further investigations showed that the wall paintings continued down to the lower floor. The work continued on the cottages and found that the whole row was once a Great Hall and possibly a pilgrim’s hostel. There are five panels of paintings depicting religious images, which date back to 1470 to 1500. The paintings are now an attraction to the public.
