Fyfield is a village within the county of Essex, located 2 miles north of Chipping Ongar and 8 miles west of Chelmsford. The village has its own parish and there are several houses from the Middle Ages still standing there. In the Middle Ages, Fyfield was a prosperous village, as attested by several taxation records preserved to this day. Most of the population have resided in the centre of the village since the 18th century.
