Rayleigh is situated between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea and is just 32 miles from central London. The population is approximately 31,000 and this market town has a postcode of SS6. Today the windmill has been restored to its former glory with new cap and sails and it is used as a museum.
Many new housing estates emerged during the 1990's but many of the residents feel that the continued building on the green areas surrounding the town is unacceptable and more care should be taken to preserve these precious areas.
