There are many exclusive restaurants and bars tucked away in Baldock and many popular entertainment venues, making them great places to meet up with one of our vivacious enthusiastic

The town was once a staging post and many old coaching inns still operate as pubs and hotels. The town itself is worth visiting just to walk around and view the many Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian buildings.
The high street was very wide in the 1770s and there were two main streets which were used as market places and a medieval cross was sited on Market Hill. When the rows were built, Middle Row, Bell Row and Butcher’s Row.
Baldock still remains a popular market town and there is always something going on. There is a good outdoor market held every Wednesday in the High Street and the museum displays Baldock’s history of the Knights Templar in 1250 and the crusades, right through to the present day. The nearby town of Letchworth Garden City was steered by Quakers and no alcohol sales were allowed, so all visitors travelled to Baldock and it’s many inns for refreshment!
There is a festival for two weeks each May which brings everyonein the community together for lots of entertainment. The Festival is probably the biggest event in the town's calendar, providing events for a variety of ages and tastes. The 27th Baldock Festival has some popular old events returning, such as the trips to Bassingbourn Museum and many of the old favourites keep returning again and again. Some of the major events that can be seen are, The Beer Festival 30th April to 2nd May, the Fire Station Open Day 8th May, Sounds of Baldock 8th and 9th May and the Medieval Street Fair 15th May.
There is also a Caribbean Night on Friday 14th May at The Boot, High Street. 8.00pm til late. So dress up in your Bermuda shorts and shirts, or even your best bikini and come down for a typically tropical Caribbean party! There will be rum punch, jerk chicken and other Caribbean themed refreshments and plenty of Malibu and rum cocktails to order, accompanied by a reggae disco.
A Cockney Night is on Wednesday 6th May at the Hen and Chickens, South Road. 8.0 0pm. You can go along to the Hen and Chickens for a good old Cockney knees-up with real East End food on sale, such as cockles and mussels, pie, mash and liquor, roll mops and jellied eels. Put on your best whistle and flute and have a good old Cockney sing song along with the old Joanna. Go in costume to really get in the swing.
Then of course there’s the 3rd Independent Baldock Beer Festival that can’t be missed. It’s on Friday 30th April to Sunday 2nd May, when there will be live music on Friday evening, and music starting at 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
