About Barley
In North Hertfordshire, England there is a small village by the name of Barley. And as some might suggest from hearing the name, the local crop is in fact barley. Oddly enough the villages name however, is not named after the wheat. It was recorded in the Domesday Book as Berlei. The actual name Barley derived from a field belonging to a Saxon Lord. Notable residents include William Warham and Thomas Willett before he became mayor of New York City, in the United States of America.
