Ippolitts is a parish located in the hundred of Hitchen and Pirton. It is also within the borders of the Country of Hertfordshire in England. The population by normal standards is low. However, 671 individuals is considered a large village, in the English countryside. In 1685 the village was conjoined to Great Wymondeley in a vicarage. The villages curious name is confusing to most that see it for the first time. This man met a horrible end when he was dragged by horses until he died. It is believed that he was the young soldier, who was assigned to guard Saint Lawrence during the wait for his Martyrdom. But yet, the authentic legend behind the churchs name may just be a simpler one. It is said that the name Hippo is translated to Horse from Greek. And thus, there was a man who tamed horses for a living, and was an expert in caring for sick horses. St. Ippolyts church was his office metaphorically speaking.
