This may have been because the inspectors never visited or it was simply left out.
During the period of 1334 and 1524, Horsham underwent a period of rapid growth which came with increasing prosperity. This was related to the development of the iron industry in the Weald in the 16th and 17th centuries. There were iron-workings and forges all around the area of Horsham but in the 18th century the iron industry went into decline and the markets became even more important to the local economy. The Borough of Horsham Market Deed was drawn up by 84 tradesmen in 1756; this was to restore the cattle market, which was being lost to London. The Market Hall was built by the Eversfield in Market Square and this was also used to house the Assizes and it played host to many theatrical productions by companies of strolling players. Once the building of turnpike roads appeared in Sussex the communications with London were much improved. A regular stage-coach service was opened in 1759 between Horsham and London.
During the 1900's a variety of events happened. In 1915 a military camp was opened in Roffey and it was here that the 22nd Royal Fusiliers were billeted. In 1923 the Capitol Theatre was opened in Horsham, this was built by the Blue Flash Cinema Company. In 1934 an open-air swimming pool was opened in Horsham Park.
Today it is said that Horsham is a truly lovely town to live in, with great leisure facilities and slightly cheaper housing. The town is home to wonderful cafes and restaurants which include French, Thai, Chinese, Indian cuisines. The town of Horsham is generally very well kept and clean and has a good shopping centre with plenty of choice between large high street stores such as M & S, BHS, Next and Monsoon etc. But on the plus side there is a great selection of small shops which include The Cheese Shop, antiques, book shops and small boutiques.
