During the Victorian era London suffered considerably from epidemics of fever during the 1860’s and 1870’s, as a result of this the 200 bed Eastern Fever Hospital was founded in September 1870 by the Metropolitan Asylums Board to prevent the spread of the fever.
Sutton House which is on Homerton High Street was built in 1535 and is the oldest surviving residential building is Hackney and is now owned and run by the National Trust.
