There are a number of historical landmarks in Ruislip, for instance English Heritage has dated The Manor Farm House to the first decade of the 16th century and there are buildings at the north end of the High Street numbers 1 to 15, the Duck House and the Swan which formed the original villages centre, these are Grade 11 listed buildings. The village had a water pump which was situated where the High Street, Bury Street and Eastcote Road meet although this is now a mini roundabout and the pump was relocated to outside numbers 9 to 15. Another landmark in Ruislip is Ruislip Lido which is a Victorian reservoir consisting of an artificial sand beach which is surrounded by pretty woodland areas and you can travel through the Lido on its miniature 12” gauge railway which has both diesel and steam locomotives. Originally the Lido was established as a reservoir to feed the Grand Union Canal, this was achieved by damming and flooding the lower part of the valley between Park Wood and Copse Wood. Work began on this project in 1811 and the reservoir was feeding the Canal by 1816.
