In the early 19th century the Dollis Hill Estate was formed. The Finch family bought up several farms in the area and combined these into one single estate where Dollis Hill House was built in the 1820s.
Midland Railway opened the first railway in the area in 1875 and this was the Dudding Hill Line which was to connect the Midland Main Line and Cricklewood goods yard which was in the east to other lines to the south west. Although the line continued to carry freight it was closed for passengers in 1902. The Dollis Hill tube station was opened on October 1st in 1909, this was part of the second railway in the area, the Metropolitan Line which has now been transferred to the Jubilee Line.
