About West Green
West Green located to the North of London is now part of the London Borough of Haringey. The area which is mainly residential includes both Chestnuts and Downhills parks. Development increased during the 1860s, predominantly after the arrival of the Tottenham & Hampstead Junction Railway in 1878. By 1890 the urbanisation of the area was complete and
West Green became part of suburbia, spoiling a once pretty village and creating an urban sprawl.
