Makeover Confessions - Why men need makeovers and why they hate it

They say having personal style is the key to having great things in life, But in the case of standard issue men, does style really have to become dated and old-fashioned? Take it from Steve Carrell’s character in the movie “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, his character goes from average suburban husband to a hotshot ladies’ man. How did he do it? Gucci? Okay, not really, but with the help of Ryan Gosling’s character, a stylish and image-conscious metrosexual man, Steve’s character learns to embrace the essence of having a “modern day machismo” without losing his suburban masculinity.

But despite the presence of stylish men in Hollywood, some just find it hard to accept that they too, need makeovers. Most men find makeovers pathetic, thinking that they are only meant for women and not men. But believe it or not, men commit more fashion crimes than women do. Not to mention a poor sense of style leads to poor attractiveness and ultimately, no chance of getting laid by a hot London escort, so if you think you’re taking too long trying to fix that tie, it’s best to throw it out and go for a new and updated look.

Here are some elements you should look into when creating your overall makeover look.

Your hair can make or break your style. So if you’ve been sporting your look for 20 years now, it’s probably time to let go of it. Go out and find a new local hair salon within your area and give yourself a fresh new look.

Now that you’re done with your hair, it’s time to take a long, hard look in the mirror and assess what you see. If you’ve been wearing the same pair of jeans, the same colour of tie and the same fold of your sleeves for over a year now, better to call up your buddies and go for a trip down the shopping centre, and if you have a female friend who’s honest and has a good sense of style, get her to tag along, after all, you’re dressing up for the ladies, so having a woman’s opinion is advisable.

If you’re still not convinced that you need to update your look, ask around and see what your friends think of your style. If majority of them say that you need a makeover badly, it’s best to believe them. They only mean well and it’s definitely going to make you a more stylish man.

Male makeovers are different from those of women. For men, even a minute change in appearance can create a surge of energy and confidence. Looking good connotes having visible superpowers, and we all know that men and superpowers mix well together. So we begin by saying that every man should have a vision of style for himself. Stylists can’t give you a look that you don’t feel confident about. You should be the one to tell them what you want to look like. Are you gearing for a rough, rugged sexy look like Gerard Butler, or are you more of the dapper king like Brad Pitt and Matt Damon? Whatever your choice is, you need to know what you want, how you want it and how far you’re going to go to achieve it, and once you’re ready to take that plunge, go ahead and indulge yourself with a new you, new clothes and a new attitude. You’ll be surprised how change can add swagger to your overall look.
