High Wycombe is a large town in Buckinghamshire, England and is only 29 miles west-north-west of Charing Cross in London, with a population of approximately 92,300. It is a combination of market town and industrial with traditional emphases on furniture production. Since medieval times there has always been a market in the High Street, although the town has always been a centre for industry and in the 17th century that became prime over the market town and to this day the area remains more industrial in character.High Wycombe today is made up of several suburbs which include Booker, Castlefield, Bowerdean, Cressex, Daws Hill, Downley, Holmers Farm, Green Street, Micklefield Sands, Totteridge and Wycombe Marsh as well as some nearby villages such as Hazlemere and Tylers Green. The town itself is currently undergoing a massive development of the centre which includes the town’s existing shopping centre called new Eden Shopping centre and together with the redevelopment of the Buckinghamshire New University these two developments have infused new life into the town and attracted a great deal of interest.

The town centre has many pubs such as The Antelope, Bird in Hand, Half Moon, O’Neills, The Belle Vue to name but a few. There are also a large number of restaurants of various cuisines.
Hughenden Manor borders the urban fringe of High Wycombe and is about 2 miles from the town centre. It was built in the Regency period and is architecturally attractive and was once the home of Benjamin Disraeli for three decades in the mid-19th century. It is a three floor mansion and is situated within its own grounds with beautifully landscaped gardens set back into the Chiltern countryside. This building is open to the public all year round.
High Wycombe has two flying schools situated on Wycombe Air Park as well as a gliding club. A number of replica aircraft were built and flown there which were used in the film industry in films such as Aces High, The Blue Max and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.
